‘THE HONOR BELONGS TO HIM’

WHEN Mayor Cadio Gorriceta of Pavia, Iloilo received the “Carabao-Carroza Award” on the occasion of the 110th Foundation Anniversary of Iloilo province, for and in behalf of the municipality of Pavia, he asked Gov. Art Defensor Sr. if he could say something before the audience.
“This award is dedicated to the memory of the late Mayor Nelson Gumban who started this Carabao-Carroza Festival in 1973. The honor belongs to him. I am sending this plaque to him tonight,” the popular mayor told the dumbfounded audience.
At 9:30 in the evening, April 11, Nelson’s wife and son Raymond received the plaque from Vice Mayor Gimo Hisancha at the place of Nelson’s wake at the Municipal Hall of Pavia.
“Believe kami kay Mayor Cadio. He is the man, leader and brother,” the people at the wake murmured.
