Mayor Arcadio H. Gorriceta turned over to Punong Barangay Rene Lachica the ambulance given by Makati City Mayor Jejomar Binay to the Municipality of Pavia last October 20, 2008.
This gesture is an expression of the appreciation of the local government to the Barangay Tanods of Brgy. Aganan for winning three years in a row, thus making it to the Hall of Fame, the “Best Barangay Tanod – Group Category Award” in Western Visayas given by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
The KIA-BESTA ambulance is a gift from the City of Makati thru Mayor Jejomar Binay. This was given to replace the ambulance of Pavia destroyed by the flood last June 21, 2008.
When Mayor Binay visited Pavia after the devastation of Typhoon “Frank” Mayor Gorriceta showed him a picture of Pavia’s destroyed ambulance. Seeing this, Binay said “papalitan ko ng bago ang inyong ambulansiya na nasira ng baha.” (“I will replace with a new one your ambulance which was wrecked by the flood.”)
The local government of Pavia decided to turn-over the ambulance to Brgy. Aganan so that their Barangay Tanods can help the municipality in responding immediately to emergency calls.
The turning over ceremony was attended by the barangay officials, barangay tanods and municipal employees.
